Congregational Fellowship

Who We Are

Congregational Fellowship at Starmount is alive and active!  Members of this ministry area are responsible for the intergenerational social actvities of the congregation.

What We Do

Gatherings include:
Starmount Friends

A gathering on the 2nd Friday of the Month for lunch and a program.  There is a cost for lunch.  Program is free

Black and Tan

This group of Adults meets the 2nd Friday of the month at 7:00pm at a local restaurant or a private home to share fellowship, food and beverages.

Mystery Dinner

An  event where a cast of Starmount members and their friends put together a great evening of fun theatre with a great catered meal. Be a part of the cast or just come enjoy the show.

Wonderful Wednesdays

This multi-week series occurs in the fall and spring as a way for people to gather to share a meal together and enrich an aspect of their lives.  Enrichment has included group guitar lessons, computer training, featured speakers, and adult education.

All-Church Retreat to Montreat

Members of Starmount's Congregational Family make the trek to Montreat, North Carolina, and the Montreat Conference Center during the first weekend in October for a weekend of reflection, fellowship, and fun! (For pictures from this year's retreat, click here.)

Day Trips

Starmount takes day trips periodically to fun places within the great state of North Carolina - previous trips have included lunch at the Yancey House, the Billy Graham Library, and the North Carolina Museum of Art.  Look here for more information about upcoming trips!

Blessing of the Animals

Once a year, usually in mid spring, Pastor Odom invites members of our community to the church on a Sunday afternoon for a special “Blessing of the Animals.”  This event brings out dogs, cats, and other pets to receive a special blessing as well as treats.  Contests are held, and everyone seems to enjoy the fellowship and time well spent with their four-legged family members.

Greensboro Grasshoppers

Another fun family outing that Starmount Presbyterian looks forward to each year is the annual pilgrimage to NewBridge Bank Park to root on our hometown Greensboro Grasshoppers.  Minor league baseball is a pleasure to watch, especially with members of your church family.  And you never know what surprise might land in your lap at a baseball game.

Bach's Lunch

If music is your forte’, then we have a treat for you.  Our Director of Music Ministries, Bob Overman, is waiting and eager to put your talents to use.  Starmount has a chancel choir, youth choir, children’s choir and handbell choir for those who have an interest in music.  Special musical happenings at Starmount include Bach’s Lunch in mid March and special choir performances throughout the year involving professional musicians from the Greensboro and Winston-Salem areas.

Church Picnic

Each September, our church holds its annual church picnic on the Starmount grounds.  After a cookout, we enjoy athletic activities as well as the opportunity to just sit around and catch up on conversation.

One Church; One Book

This every-other month offering seeks to join the church around the reading and discussion of one book. Some of the recent books which have been considered are The Shack and Hundred Dollar Holiday.Grasshoppers Games

Table Friends

Groups are formed for monthly gatherings based on interest.  It is a way of getting to know others in the church family while breaking bread together.
