Breakfast on the Playground
Families with young children are encouraged to gather at the Starmount playground for scheduled family fellowship. Children have a chance to run around and play while building deep-lasting friendships. Parents can enjoy a cup of coffee and each other. The event goes on – rain or shine! – either on the playground off of Ashland Drive or in the Preschool’s Rainy Day Room.
F3: Food, Families, and Faith
Participants gather for a good ol’ fashioned potluck on the first Sunday of the month in the Fall (October, November, December 2015) and again in the Spring (April, May, June 2016). People can enjoy conversation over dinner and then participate in an intergenerational activity or learning opportunity.
This multi-week series occurs in the fall and spring. It is a time for people to gather and share a meal together and enrich an aspect of their lives. Programs have included group guitar lessons, bible study, computer training, featured speakers, and adult education. Each year Fellowship and Staff members collaborate on new and exciting ideas for each Wonderful Wednesday series.
All-Church Retreat to Montreat
Annually in the Fall, members of the Starmount Family and their friends make the trip to Montreat, North Carolina, and the Montreat Conference Center. Retreat participants are encouraged to reflect on and deepen their faith while enjoying the beauty of the mountains. It is a great weekend of reflection, fellowship, and fun! Blessing of the Animals
Once a year, usually in mid spring, members of our community are invited to the church on a Sunday afternoon for a special “Blessing of the Animals.” This event brings out dogs, cats, and other pets to receive a special blessing as well as treats. Contests are held, and everyone seems to enjoy the fellowship and time well spent with their furry, feathered, and scaled family members.
Another fun family outing that Starmount Presbyterian looks forward to each year is the annual pilgrimage to NewBridge Bank Park to root on our hometown Greensboro Grasshoppers. Minor league baseball is a pleasure to watch, especially with members of your church family.
Each August, our church holds its annual church picnic on the Starmount grounds as a way to kick-off the program year. Following a worship focused on Back to School, we enjoy a cookout with fun family activities, as well as the opportunity to reconnect and catch up with old and new friends.
