Bach's Lunch Thank You

This week has been a full one at Starmount.  Our church calendar has been full of activities and programs, but this particular week, our sanctuary has also been full each and every day.  Starmount hosted our 35th annual Bach’s Lunch event as a celebration of beloved classical music and as an outreach and service to the larger community.  Each day this week around noon, our sanctuary has been filled with people who have come to listen to some wonderful musicians, as they too fill our sanctuary with beautiful music.
I have been delighted to look around the room during the concerts.  I was not only delighted to see some of our members and regular attenders who feel right at home in our pews, but I also to see scores of people from the community, some of whom have never stepped foot in our church before.  As I spoke with some of these folks after the concerts or while they were enjoying lunch, it was clear that they have felt the warmth and welcome that is present in this place.
As I said at the close of the concert series, when events come together so well and appear to go off in a seemingly effortless manor, then that is sure proof of the hard work and dedication of so many behind the scenes.  Bach’s Lunch is a wonderful example of this.  I want to thank all of those who have worked tirelessly over the last several weeks and months to make this wonderful event possible.
Just as our sanctuary has been filled each day this week, I hope you all will continue to come so that we may fill it once again on Sunday.  We have been participating in our collective practice of “paying attention” in worship services over the last few weeks.  We have been intentional about our singing and intentional in our offering.  This week we will focus on how we affirm our faith by looking at a passage in which the disciples engage in this very practice when Jesus asks them, “Who do you say I am?”  I hope to see you Sunday so that we can ponder the ways that we might respond to that same question.
In Christ,
Charlie Lee
