COVID-19 Updates

To protect our community and our members, all worship services and church activities have been suspended through May in conjunction with Governor Cooper’s stay-at-home order. Worship is provided virtually each week, the staff is working from home, missions are on-going and our church leadership meets virtually to determine when and how our activities will safely phase back into operation.

Ongoing Mission Efforts

During this time, Starmount is committed to supporting families who are struggling due to lost wages and school cancellations. There are several families in the congregation that we are collecting food for and we are also encouraging members to support Out of the Garden and YWCA Family Shelter in feeding families in crisis in our community.

If you are able, please pick up extra non-perishables when you are out shopping and drop them in the collections bin outside the church office door. Email if you need us to come pick up your donation.

Building & Grounds Updates

Despite the intrusiveness of the COVID virus this has been a productive time for Starmount’s Building & Grounds Committee.

The roof repairs are now complete!  We have new roofs on our sanctuary, Chapel, parlor and office/choir rooms.  (Keep in mind that there may be stray nails on the property. If you see one, please pick it up and dispose of it.)

We have new windows in our sanctuary!  The new windows are double pane, translucent and insulated for energy efficiency.

Our new clerestory windows are covered with interior curtains that are controlled from our sound booth.  These curtains had totally decomposed over their 10 yr. life-span and require replacement.  It is hoped that this project will take place before the end of May.

A number of smaller projects have also been completed during this quiet time at the church.  We have 2 new emergency light fixtures in the Fellowship Hall and new door sweeps on both Fellowship Hall and Office entry doors.  Work should commence soon on refinishing the door to our utility room that faces Ardmore Drive.
