In this week’s Pastor’s Post I would like to update you on various things going on here at Starmount. First of all, I want to express my gratitude for all of you who attended the Sentimental Journey lunch last week. It was a wonderful gathering with great food and fellowship. I also want to thank the Caring Committee, staff, and all involved who worked tirelessly to make that event possible.
I also want to remind you of the Presbyterian Women’s Birthday Dinner that will be held on Monday, June 3rd at 6:00pm in the fellowship hall. This dinner is open to the entire congregation, and will feature Teri Hammer and Scott Jones who will tell us about a local nonprofit organization called “Tiny Houses of Greensboro.” The Missions Committee has committed Starmount funds to sponsor and help build a tiny house later this year. I hope you will all come and hear about this exciting mission opportunity.
The Nominating Committee is asking for your help as they begin their work this year. They are in need of nominations for people you believe God may be calling to serve as an Elder in this congregation. Nominations forms are in the bulletin each Sunday, or you can send in your nominations to Brenda in the church office. The committee would like all nominations to be in by June 2nd.
Finally, there is one more step needed to complete the renovation of the Fellowship Hall entryway project. It was discovered that the tile that was installed did not adhere to the floor correctly, causing some tiles to easily come up. Therefore, after much discussion, the flooring company has agreed to pull up and replace the current tiles. This work will begin on Tuesday, June 4th and will hopefully be complete by the end of the week. I want to thank the Buildings & Grounds Committee for their dedication to this project.
I will be out of town this weekend for some time away with family. For those of you who will be traveling as well, we pray for traveling mercies. For all those who will gather for worship at Starmount, we pray that the Spirit’s presence may be upon you.
In Christ,
Charlie Lee
