Tiny House – Big Difference

It is official!  Starmount Presbyterian Church is building a Tiny House.  As you may have heard, over the last several months the Mission Committee has been exploring a partnership with Tiny House Community Development, Inc.  This is an organization based in Greensboro whose mission is to address the issue of homelessness in our community by constructing small communities of Tiny Homes.  If you would like to learn more about this organization, you may visit their website:  https://www.tinyhousesgreensboro.com/

Starmount Presbyterian Church has agreed to sponsor the construction of a Tiny Home.  The cost of this project is $30,000, and will be paid for using the endowment funds made available to the Mission Committee.  The construction of this home will take place here in the church parking lot. It will begin on Saturday, Sept. 28th and will continue each Saturday for the next few weeks.  There will be opportunities for all ages and skill levels to participate, and so I encourage each of you to come out and put your faith into action in this unique way. Once construction is complete, the home will be relocated to a Tiny Home community currently under development.

When you arrive at Starmount on Sunday, you will notice something new near our entrance.  It is a model tiny house that will stay on site during the construction process.  We will be adding some signage to let the community around us know what we are up to.  This model home is open, so feel free to come in and take a look.  It is a bit smaller than the home we will be building, but it will give you an idea of what a Tiny Home looks like.

You will hear much more about this project on Sunday, and you will also have a chance to sign up for the Saturday work days.

In Christ,
Charlie Lee
