Elementary aged children who are refugees or whose parents are refugees attend weekly homework helping sessions at Starmount Presbyterian during the school year. Volunteers drive the children from their homes to the church where our goal is to provide one on one instruction with each child. Additional volunteers help children understand directions for assignments, plan for projects, read and work on basic skills or homework. They also read notes from teachers about class/school expectations and convey these to the students to share with their parents. Students are taken home with a meal provided by volunteers.
